About Us

Telesis Academy of Science and Math is a public school serving students in grades TK-8. Located in a quiet residential area of West Covina, and part of Rowland Unified, our school’s STEM focus and inclusion in the “No Excuses University” network of schools, annually draws a list of applicants and a waiting list of prospective students.  Our partnership with the California Science Center continues to keep our teachers abreast of the latest and greatest in Science Education.  We learn how to integrate the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as well as the Engineering Design Process into student learning throughout the year.

One of the hallmarks of Telesis Academy is the focus on STEM integration. Students regularly use and apply state-of-the-art technology in their classrooms as well as the middle school STEM and Robotics classes.  Telesis is also a 1:1 school where TK-2nd grade students use IPADS, and 3rd through 8th graders use Chromebooks in their classrooms with Google Classroom as a vehicle for their learning.  In addition, 3D printers, laser cutters, green screens, and drones are tools our students have access to in order to enhance their educational experiences.

For students who are interested in competing, Telesis represents at the Southern California Science Olympiad (division A and B), Math Counts Competition, The Inland Valle Debate League, and the Greater Los Angeles County Botball tournament.  Opportunities to code are ongoing and happen in the students regular classrooms as well as in after school coding classes.

Telesis Academy is the first ever No Excuses University Preparatory Academy in the nation.  We believe that ALL students can achieve success, and we strive to provide our students with the very best education.  We promote a culture that embodies achievement and ensures that our actions are driven by our commitment to student success.  Every student is given explicit exposure to what college is, why they should attend and culminating with an understanding that they need to take ownership of how to get into college.  It is not unusual to see students writing or talking about going to college.

NEU at Telesis is found schoolwide, and is embraced by every staff member in a clear and committed manner.  Every member of the staff believes that each child is capable of meeting standards in all areas of students’ academic education, and genuinely believe they are agents of change: capable of creating equitable learning opportunities for their students.
