Rowland Unified Board Appoints Four Principalships Tonight and Welcomes New Leaders
The Rowland Unified School District Board of Education presented to a packed house tonight the appointment of four principals and welcomed them to the Rowland Family.
Congratulations to the following esteemed administrators that are a combination of current leadership, one that is returning home to RUSD and a new educational leader that will join the team:
- Welcome back to Dr. Cindy Bak as Principal of Shelyn Elementary School, the District’s Mandarin Dual Language Immersion school. Dr. Bak spent 11 years in RUSD as a teacher, instructional coach, and program specialist. Bak served as an administrator at Fullerton Unified and is excited to return to Shelyn Elementary where her career began as a student teacher.
- RUSD welcomes Erika Espinoza as the new Principal of Rorimer Elementary School, which was named a 2026 State Seal of Excellence Award for Spanish Dual Language Immersion. Espinoza is excited to return to the San Gabriel Valley where she grew up, and joins RUSD from San Marcos Unified where she served as an elementary assistant principal.
- Congratulations to Anny Duldulao, Principal of Killian Elementary. Anny has served in RUSD for the past several years as Assistant Principal of Oswalt Academy. “I am excited with this opportunity to work together with the staff, students and families of Killian Elementary to build strong relationships and to work together to create meaningful opportunities for every student to grow and succeed.”
- Cristina Canales has been promoted to Principal of Telesis Academy of Science and Math. Canales was the Assistant Principal of Telesis and has also served in leadership roles at Santana High School and Rowland High School, and as a teacher. “Telesis holds a very special place in my heart. For my years serving as a teacher, instructional coach and Assistant Principal at Telesis, I have had the privilege of witnessing the school’s growth. Seeing first hand the extraordinary impact the Telesis community has had on students, I look forward to continuing this work that ensures that every student feels seen and valued.”
The Board also introduced the following administrators who were appointed at the June 5, 2026 Board Meeting: Jessica Delavigne, promoted to Associate Principal at Nogales High School; Maria Descallar, Coordinator of Parent Engagement, and Juan Carlos “JC” Olivares, the new Assistant Principal of Activities and Athletics at Nogales High School, who joins RUSD from Lynnwood Unified.
